Research Interests

My research involves establishing the status of the American black bear (Ursus americanus) in the state of Missouri. Using modern genetic techniques and non-invasive hair sampling, I am interested in discovering the origins of Missouri’s bears, their reproductive status, population size, growth rate, and sex ratio. This information will be useful in the future conservation and management of the bears.
