Research Interests
I am an international student from Ghana pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science. Biology has always been a passion of mine since junior high school. My participation in undergraduate research began in the summer of 2010 as a Mathematics in Life Sciences Fellow. As a participant in this program I worked with a mentor on nontypeable Heamophilus Influezae. I joined the Eggert lab in the beginning of my sophomore year and have since worked with Tabitha Finch. We are using fecal samples to better understand the behavior of crop raiding elephants in Kenya. This summer I have been awarded a Life Sciences Undergraduate Research Program Fellowchip to study gastrointestinal parasites in African elephants.
The Eggert lab has not only provided me the chance to gain experience in genetic techniques, but it has helped prepare me for conducting future research in my home country. Once I have completed my college education, I plan on going back to Ghana to pursue a career in biomedical research.
