Research Interests

I am studying the elephants of the Salak-Pra Forest Sanctuary, the oldest forest sanctuary in Thailand. By genotyping the DNA that can be extracted from elephant dung samples, I will estimate the population size and sex ratio. I am also using dung bolus circumferences to estimate the age structure of this important population. I will also evaluate different methods of estimating the genetic effective size of this population using the data that can be obtained from dung-based surveys.
