Genetics has always interested me, but adding the aspect of real life conservation applications into the mix makes it even more exciting.
I am currently a Sophomore at the University of Missouri majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Chemistry and Sociology. I plan on applying to Veterinary school after I Graduate in 2019 to become a mixed animal Veterinarian.
In the Eggert lab, I work on the Nuclear genetic structure of P. tenuis, an elk brainworm found to be infecting the native white tailed deer of Missouri with lethal results. My work could help determine host parasite interactions, and disease spread.
